Development Log - Week02
Currently, we are in the 'Prototyping Phase' of our game, which means that we have to research the ways we want to tackle certain topics and mechanics for our game. To help this phase, we must ask ourselves different questions and find answers for them. Some examples:
1) Is the fun factor for our game high enough?
2) Are we going overboard with the mechanics (water, rope, item collecting, ...)?
3A) How will we implement the camera movement?
3B) Can the camera zoom in/out on certain events?
4) How should everything be scaled (characters, enemies, submarine, interactables, HUD)?
5) How will we implement our HUD?
6A) What are the exact unique abilities from each character?
6B) Should every character be able to attack/revive/pick up weapons?
7) What will our game be called?
For now, we are still debating if the water and the rope mechanics will work out, or be too much work. We'll be discussing these topics this week.
Answering the questions above, is the main thing we want to do in the coming week. After that, we'll have 2 sprints to work on our game and get things going. The final step will be the polishing phase, which takes a few weeks. It's main purpose is to just add particles and make sure the flow of our game is as good as it can be.
Currently, you can download an executable which we are using to play around with scales of our game.
