Development Log - Week03

This week we focussed on finalizing our prototypes and getting the core mechanics functional.

Our main questions were:

1. How do the basic movements of the 4 player characters and the submarine work and feel? This includes physics applied to them.

2. How does the water simulation work?

3.  What do the sprites look like? What animations do they need?

4. What does the environment look like? What is the color pallet of our game? What is the lighting

Playing around with the gameplay of the characters made us realise that physics mechanics make the movements feel extra satisfying, especially for the submarine and the diver pulling eachother. The water physics seem to work as intended as well, flowing through rooms and being blocked of when needed.

We picked a color scheme for each of the four characters, one of the 4 main colors that pops on their respective backgrounds. We also tested out some animations and went with a energetic cartoony style, with fast and exaggerated movements. The environment will have a more painter style in tael, blue and purple colors. Together with realistic light rendering of Unity, we are aiming to create a mysterious and exciting mood with this.
